  1. For Rams RB Marshall Faulk: "How come you have a podium while all your teammates are forced to stand out here?"

  2. To Cowboy QB Troy Aikman: "Does it seem a little strange answering football questions in a baseball stadium?"

  3. To Redskins OL Mark May: "How does it feel to block for the first black quarterback in the Super Bowl?

  4. To Raiders QB Jim Plunkett: "Is it your mother who's blind, and your father who's deaf, or the other way around?"

  5. For Titans DT Joe Salave'a: "What's your relationship with the football?" (Salave'a's answer: "I'd say it's strictly platonic.")

  6. To Ravens LB Ray Lewis: "How long have you been surrounded by thugs?"

State of DisUnion

The following are excerpts from GW Bush's State of the Union address along with some personal commentary.

We are not the first to come here with government divided and uncertainty in the air. Like many before us, we can work through our differences, and achieve big things for the American people. Our citizens don't much care which side of the aisle we sit on - as long as we are willing to cross that aisle when there is work to be done. Our job is to make life better for our fellow Americans, and help them to build a future of hope and opportunity - and this is the business before us tonight.

Yeah, now let's work together. When the Repubicans controlled Congress it was a different matter. The Republicans all but ignored their Democratic counterparts. At some meetings the Republicans would actually get up and leave when the Democrats came in. Or tell them the wrong times for committee meetings. There was great article in a recent issue of Rollling Stone on this subject.

Spreading opportunity and hope in America also requires public schools that give children the knowledge and character they need in life. Five years ago, we rose above partisan differences to pass the No Child Left Behind Act - preserving local control, raising standards in public schools, and holding those schools accountable for results. And because we acted, students are performing better in reading and math, and minority students are closing the achievement gap.

How well has the No Child Left Behind actually worked? Yeah, that's what I thought.

A future of hope and opportunity requires that all our citizens have affordable and available healthcare. When it comes to healthcare, government has an obligation to care for the elderly, the disabled, and poor children. We will meet those responsibilities. For all other Americans, private health insurance is the best way to meet their needs. But many Americans cannot afford a health insurance policy.

Health care plan? Did Canada succeed with this? A tax cut? Is the answer to all the problems a tax cut? That seems to be his cure all for everything. Especially when 98% of U.S. Employers deduct our healthcare payroll deductions pretax already, leaving a tax cut useless to most employed. With healthcare rising at 12 to 18% each year, wouldn't it be more prudent to look at the root cause?

Extending hope and opportunity in our country requires an immigration system worthy of America- with laws that are fair and borders that are secure. When laws and borders are routinely violated, this harms the interests of our country. To secure our border, we are doubling the size of the Border Patrol - and funding new infrastructure and technology.

Are people really banging to get in? If so, then are we becoming the land of opporutnity with too many rules. Let them come in...but let them pay taxes and be like the rest of us.

Extending hope and opportunity depends on a stable supply of energy that keeps America's economy running and America's environment clean. For too long our Nation has been dependent on foreign oil. And this dependence leaves us more vulnerable to hostile regimes, and to terrorists - who could cause huge disruptions of oil shipments .... raise the price of oil ... and do great harm to our economy.

Quite humorous....Worrying about America's enviroment from a President that has voted down most laws having to do with any type of enviromental safeguards and who thinks Global Warming a fantasy.

This war is more than a clash of arms - it is a decisive ideological struggle, and the security of our Nation is in the balance. To prevail, we must remove the conditions that inspire blind hatred, and drove 19 men to get onto airplanes and come to kill us.

I agree with that statement, the problem is that we are creating the conditions that inspire blind hatred and will drive millions more men to try and come up with new ways to kill us. It is no wonder most of the world hates us.

Go Decauter Staleys!

taken from Wikipedia

Originally called the Decatur Staleys, the Chicago Bears football club was established by the A. E. Staley Company of Decatur, Illinois in 1919 as a company team, the typical start for several of the early professional football franchises. The company hired George Halas and Edward "Dutch" Sternaman in 1920 to run the team and turned full control of the team over to them in 1921.[2]

However, official team and league records cite Halas as the founder[3] as he took over the team in 1920 when it became a charter member of the NFL. Along with the Cardinals, the Bears are one of only two charter members of the NFL still in existence. The team relocated to Chicago in 1921, where the club was renamed the Chicago Staleys. Under an agreement that was reached by Halas and Sternaman with Staley, Halas purchased the rights to the club from Staley for $100.

So....hear! hear! let the SuperBowl Shuffle begin. (but also thankful that the Staleys changed their name!)

will the right Bears team show up today?

"Growing up watching the NFL, being such a fan of the sport and the league," Bears quarterback Rex Grossman said, "it means a great deal to be in this position. I really respect where we are at right now as far as the history of the league. I'm approaching it with a ton of intensity and focus, but not trying to make it bigger than it is. It's still just a football game we are playing at Soldier Field against the Saints."

/sigh

I hope so!

from the last kiss

I didn't realize I had published this blog. I had meant to save it as I wasn't done with it. Below is a quote from the movie, The Last Kiss. Its an interesting movie about different relationships going to hell because, ultimately, due to different degrees and varying fears. In the end, the boy gets the girl because he realizes his initial fears and gets over them.

I thought this was an introspective quote from the movie. It reminds me about old adage, "actions speak louder than words." I may not always be good at the word stuff - in fact, I know I'm not. But I hope that those in my life, my dearest friends and family, KNOW that I love them...by how I treat them, by the acts that I do. That to me is the best way for me to show them. My language of love.

What you feel only matters to you.

It's what you do to the people you say you love.
It's the only thing that counts.

People know the truth.
They may not like it or want to know it, but they always know.
Lie and you'll lose her.

MLK

Some of my favorite quotes by the man himself. MLK

Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter.

Nothing in all the world is more dangerous than sincere ignorance and conscientious stupidity.

When you are right you cannot be too radical; when you are wrong, you cannot be too conservative.

By Jonathan WeismanWashington Post Staff WriterThursday, January 11, 2007; Page A06
The House yesterday overwhelmingly approved the first increase in the federal minimum wage in nearly a decade, boosting the wages of the lowest-paid American workers from $5.15 to $7.25 an hour over the next two years.Gina Walters, 44, of Ohio says at a Capitol Hill news conference that working for the minimum wage means she cannot afford to pay to get her hair cut. (By Jay Mallin -- Bloomberg News)

Thank god! That new raise will now allow her to get her hair cut and trim those cuffs and collar!

stoned thoughts

for those who don't know what's going on with me
i'm pretty sick
so i'm fly9ng high on these meds tonight

the night before last
i almost called 9-1-1
cuz i couldn't breathe (damn asthma. i swear in my next life, I'm gonna have lungs of gold!)

its the first time i've been truly scared

during that time
i swore I blacked out
and people significant to me
flashed before my eyes

all the things I wish I would've said to them
how much they mean to me
everything i never had the courage to say
face to face
eye to eye
hand in hand

as a writer i'm good with words
good with writing
but that's where I fall short
i can't verbalize how I feel very well
i get embarrassed
shy
whatever we call it
inept?

anyhow
in this "stoned" moment
high on too many drugs too count right now
all prescribed by my doctor
i'm confessing
my inadequecies

mmmm
maybe its a resolution
or maybe you know me well enough
to know who I am talking to

in any case
and in my randomness tonight
i hope those that know
who maybe I mean something to
can do a better job
at this whole
face to face
eye to eye
thing

cuz you know I suck at it

because as I blacked out
and all these thoughts came rushing to my head
i realized
how short life is
and how quickly it can end

damn. I'm such a sap.

bloodtype

so i was at the doctor this week
and he aske me my bloodtype

on my drive home today from work I begin to hypothesize
does one's bloodtype characterize their personality, their traits?

we all know from early biology class that depending on one's bloodtype you can either receive or give blood to certain individuals

for example, I'm one of 7% in the U.S. who is O negative
its really the worst type to be because while I'm a universal donor only those who are O negative can give me blood

Well, it seems as if I'm not the only person who has thought about the correlation between bloodtype and personality characteristics

i googled it tonight and ... (below taken from www.wikipedia.com)

The Japanese blood type theory of personality is a popular belief that a person's ABO blood type is predictive of their personality, character, and compatibility with others, according to books by Masahiko Nomi. This belief has carried over to certain extent in other parts of East Asia such as South Korea and Taiwan. In Japan, asking someone their blood type is considered as normal as asking their astrological sign. It is also common for Japanese-made video games (especially role-playing games) and manga series to include blood type with character descriptions.

What's your bloodtype?
